Position Overview
Join one of the most advanced EMC lab environments in Portugal. As an EMC Test Engineer, you will champion seamless EMC compliance across all product development phases – delivering cost-effective testing solutions, maintaining test plan integrity, and providing expert technical support across the facility.
The role
- Plan, execute, and report on EMC developmental and validation tests in accordance with customer specifications, ensuring data integrity and timely delivery of results.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers, Product Assurance Engineers, and key OEM customers to understand test requirements, resolve issues, and support customer complaint resolution.
- Work closely with local and global teams to develop and maintain EMC test programmes, scripts, and work instructions aligned with OEM and international standards.
- Ensure lab readiness by maintaining equipment calibration, upholding accreditation standards, and keeping pace with evolving test standards and practices.
- Drive continuous improvement across lab setups, internal procedures, and technician practice to reduce variability and maintain a high degree of confidence in results.
- Support the expansion of lab capability to accommodate new technologies, methods, and emerging test requirements.
Qualification, Experience And Skills
- BSc or MSc in Electrical, Electronics, or RF Engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills in electrical and EMI/EMC domains.
- Proficient English, both written and spoken.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with the following test disciplines and associated equipment:
- Radiated Emissions (RE / CISPR 25)
- Conducted Emissions (CE / CISPR 25)
- Radiated Immunity (RI / ISO 11452-2)
- Bulk Current Injection (BCI / ISO 11452-4)
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD / IEC 61000-4-2 or ISO 10605)
- Transient Emissions and Immunity (CI / ISO 7637-2)
- Equipment: spectrum analysers, EMI receivers, preamplifiers, signal/impulse generators, antennas, LISNs, oscilloscopes.
- Experience with commercial EMC/RF lab software packages for RE, RI, CE, and CI testing.
Reporting Structure: This role will report to the high-voltage laboratory manager.
