The position
As a Power BI Administrator, you will play a key role in administering, managing and maintaining our Power BI environment, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, well-governed and available to users across the organisation. As a Power BI Administrator, you will take ownership of the Power BI Service, tenant configuration, user access, capacity, gateways and governance, helping to ensure the platform operates effectively and in line with organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage the Power BI Service, including Power BI Online and the Power BI tenant.
- Manage user permissions, roles and access controls across workspaces, datasets and other Power BI resources.
- Manage Power BI capacity and resources, including monitoring storage, disk space and overall platform utilisation.
- Configure and administer Power BI Gateways, ensuring reliable connectivity between Power BI and data sources.
- Manage Power BI tenant settings and implement appropriate governance policies.
- Manage Power BI users and licences, ensuring appropriate access and licence allocation.
- Monitor platform performance, availability and health, identifying and resolving issues where required.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security and governance controls across the Power BI environment.
- Support audit, compliance and reporting requirements relating to the Power BI platform.
- Work with technical and business stakeholders to understand platform requirements and provide appropriate administration and support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Power BI administration, governance and operational processes.
- Ensure the Power BI environment follows relevant Microsoft and organisational best practices.
What You bring to the position
- Proven hands‑on experience administering the Power BI Service and Power BI tenant.
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform and associated administration portals.
- Strong experience managing users, permissions, roles and security models within Power BI.
- Experience managing Power BI workspaces, datasets and access controls.
- Experience with Power BI Gateway configuration and connectivity.
- Understanding of Power BI tenant settings and governance.
- Experience monitoring and managing capacity, storage and platform resources.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID administration and identity management.
- Ability to monitor Power BI platform performance and health and respond to operational issues.
- Understanding of security, audit and compliance requirements within a BI environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve platform‑related issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
