Job summary

SAP is seeking a Platform Engineering Expert for the Agentic Tooling Team to drive cloud-native platform initiatives at Porto Salvo, Portugal. You will own the core infrastructure, automation, and integrations powering Joule Studio and its agents, working with SAP engineers globally.

You will design scalable platform solutions, implement secure CI/CD pipelines, and contribute to SAP's agentic roadmap while shaping standards and best practices for high-quality software across the team.

Platform Engineering Expert - Agentic Tooling Team

• Full-time

What you'll bring

You are a well-versed software engineer with a track record in cloud-native platform engineering. You combine deep technical ownership with the confidence to shape platform direction across teams. You bring solid communication skills, a collaborative approach, and the creative thinking and learning agility to adapt as the role evolves.

Strong development experience in Java, Python, or TypeScript — the technical foundation of this role.

Deep CI/CD expertise — you design, build, and maintain delivery pipelines; SAP CI/CD experience is a plus.

Cloud-native platform skills — cloud architecture, scalability, and automation in production environments.

Proficiency with modern web APIs — RESTful design, oData, or GraphQL.

A practical approach to AI — you apply agentic tools, AI-assisted automation, and context engineering in your work; knowledge of AI agents or Model Context Protocol (MCP) is valued, and a strong drive to build this expertise is equally welcome.

Degree not required for this role.

Fluency in English is required for this role.

What you'll build

You'll be embedded at the core of SAP's agentic AI story — building the tools, infrastructure, and integrations that power Joule Studio and the agents running on it.

Design, build, and operate scalable platform infrastructure and automation that supports agentic AI development.

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, secure delivery of agentic tools and services.

Build AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and agentic workflows from concept to production.

Work with engineering teams across SAP to turn complex platform and agentic requirements into robust, scalable solutions.

Define technical standards and best practices that raise engineering quality across the platform.

Contribute to SAP's agentic roadmap — this team generates ideas and ships them, not just executes.

You'll join the Agentic Tooling team, one of SAP's most strategically placed engineering groups building Joule Studio and SAP's agentic platform. The team sits at the intersection of platform engineering and AI innovation — working across agents, MCP, A2A, and other emerging concepts. This is a strong moment to join: the team is actively shaping SAP's agentic architecture for internal developers and partners. You'll work with engineers globally and are expected to bring ideas as well as execution. The role is based in Porto Salvo, Portugal.
