Job summary

Sensor Tower is seeking a Platform Engineer in Portugal to improve infrastructure, tooling, and delivery workflows used by a large engineering team. The role combines infrastructure and software development, with a 65/35 split, focusing on cloud infrastructure, automation, observability, and internal tooling.

You’ll work on CI/CD improvements, developer experience, and increasingly adopt AI-assisted workflows to streamline releases and engineering processes across our global teams.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining complex CI/CD workflows.
• Software development experience building internal tools, APIs, backend services, or automation.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider and telemetry/monitoring (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Kibana).
• Strong Computer Science and System Design fundamentals; willingness to learn Ruby and Go.

Responsibilities

• Improve developer experience by building tools and workflows for development, testing, and shipping.
• Maintain infrastructure automation with Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt.
• Improve the reliability and performance of our CI/CD workflows.
• Find the causes of slow builds, failed pipelines, and flaky tests.
• Develop internal tools, improve test infrastructure, and occasionally work on product features.
• Improve observability across our infrastructure and delivery workflows using OpenTelemetry and ELK.
• Leverage AI to improve engineering workflows by building cloud-based agent tools.

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to improve the infrastructure, developer tooling, and delivery workflows used by more than 100 engineers.

The role combines infrastructure and software development, with an approximate 65/35 split. You’ll work on cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, CI/CD, and internal tooling. The goal is to make development and releases more reliable, efficient, and straightforward.

What you’ll do

• Improve developer experience and engineering productivity by building tools and workflows that make it easier for engineers to develop, test, and ship software.
• Maintain infrastructure automation with Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt.
• Improve the reliability and performance of our CI/CD workflows.
• Find the causes of slow builds, failed pipelines, and flaky tests.
• Develop internal tools, improve test infrastructure, and occasionally work on product features.
• Improve observability across our infrastructure and delivery workflows using OpenTelemetry, ELK.
• Leverage AI to improve engineering workflows by building cloud-based agent tools and helping teams adopt effective practices.

What we’re looking for

• Experience developing and maintaining complex CI/CD workflows.
• Software development experience, such as building internal tools, APIs, backend services, or automation.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider.
• Telemetry and monitoring experience (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Kibana).
• Strong Computer Science and System Design fundamentals.
• Willingness to learn and use Ruby and/or Go.

What we’d be particularly excited about

• Experience optimizing CI build times, especially with Jenkins.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with build systems such as Webpack or Gradle.

You don’t need to know every technology in our stack. We value strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to work on different types of engineering problems.
