Job summary

INESC TEC is inviting applications for a 12-month Research Grant (BI) within the BIGALGAE project at Porto, Portugal, starting 2026-11-15. The focus is on optic and electrochemical sensors for ammonium detection in aquaculture and on dual-detection platforms for real-time monitoring.

The role seeks a Master’s degree holder in physics engineering, enrolled in higher education, with experience in optical systems, prototype development, aquaculture sensors, and 3D design.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in physics engineering.
• Enrolment in a study cycle or non-award courses of higher education institutions is required.
• Knowledge of optoelectronic systems.
• Experience in microcontroller programming and developing software for analysis and control.
• Knowledge of protocols for device communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop optic and electrochemical sensors for ammonium detection in aquaculture.
• Design and validate dual-detection platforms for real-time monitoring.
• Establish calibration models and validate prototypes in the lab and in real-life conditions.
