Job summary

Brunel is actively seeking an Engine Room Operator for an offshore assignment in Portugal. The role involves watchkeeping, routine maintenance, and supervising task execution under the Maintenance Lead, with a 28/28 rotation offshore.

Candidates should have an Engineering degree (or equivalent) and a 2nd Engineer STCW certificate, plus Portuguese and English proficiency. The contract is 12 months at a competitive daily rate.

Qualifications

• Watchkeeping and routine maintenance experience in offshore/ship environments.
• Knowledge of safety rules and procedures in an offshore setting.
• Proficiency in SAP or PMS systems for maintenance tracking.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanical Lead with maintenance and repair in the engine room/ship.
• Ensure work is conducted safely following established rules.
• Execute tasks and inspections assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or Mechanical Lead.
• Operate machinery and monitor data as directed by supervisors.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly inspections per the maintenance program.
• Ensure equipment meets operational instructions and maintenance standards.
• Carry out PMS-based maintenance and repairs as required.
• Monitor conditions and guide operations within your field; update documentation.
• Conduct regular tours of machinery spaces during watches.
• Keep planned maintenance records up to date.
• Ensure daily activities are safe and environmentally compliant.
