Job summary

Wire IT, based in Porto, Portugal, is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our hybrid team. You will design, deploy, and support secure network infrastructure, including firewalls, WAFs, DNS, VIPs and VPNs.

You’ll engage in on-call rotations and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver resilient security solutions. We require 5+ years in security infrastructure, strong Fortinet/Palo Alto/Check Point/F5 experience, and knowledge of automation tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in security infrastructure solutions (firewalls, WAF, load balancers, DNS).
• Expert knowledge in Fortinet or Ubika WAF, with experience in Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, F5 LTM/GTM/APM, Infoblox or IPS.
• Strong firewall/WAF/load balancer configuration, deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• DNS and IPS/IDS experience with L2/L3 security support.
• VIP creation, DMZ config, site-to-site VPN, log analysis and traffic tracing knowledge.
• Automation/DevOps awareness; Ansible and Python are an advantage.
• Autonomy, collaboration, adaptability, and English at B2 level (French a plus).
• Availability for on-call rotations and occasional night/weekend ops.

Network Security Engineer

Location

Porto, Portugal (Hybrid)

Required skills

• 5+ years of experience working with security infrastructure solutions, including firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), load balancers, and DNS.
• Expert-level knowledge of at least one of the following technologies, with priority given to Fortinet firewalls and Ubika WAF.
• Experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, F5 LTM, F5 GTM, F5 APM, Infoblox, or IPS solutions.
• Strong knowledge of firewall, WAF, and load‑balancer configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Experience with DNS and IPS/IDS technologies.
• Experience providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for security and network infrastructure.
• Knowledge of network security operations, including VIP creation, DMZ configuration, site-to-site VPN deployment, log analysis, and traffic tracing.
• Experience with advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure installation, configuration, and testing.
• Experience performing security device upgrades and deployments.
• Ability to design infrastructure solutions for new technologies, client requirements, capacity planning, and resilience.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Ansible and Python is an advantage.
• Good organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Good adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
• English proficiency at B2 level or above.
• French proficiency at B2 level is an advantage.
• Availability to participate in on‑call rotations and occasional night or weekend operations.
