Job summary

Rumos Group seeks an experienced IT Desktop Virtualization Administrator to support and optimize VMware Horizon environments in Lisbon. You will design and maintain Windows master images, manage VDI pools (persistent and non-persistent), and automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell.

The role requires strong Windows, AD/GPO/DNS/DHCP knowledge, and reporting skills with Excel/Power BI. English is a must; shifts may occur between 8:00 and 20:00.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Proven experience in administering and supporting VMware Horizon environments and VMware vSphere (vCenter/ESXi).
• Proficiency in creating master images, managing Horizon pools, and Horizon Connection Servers.
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server.
• Proficiency in Active Directory, GPOs, DNS and DHCP.
• PowerShell scripting experience; automation and reporting skills with Excel/Power BI.
• Structured troubleshooting approach and ability to document procedures.
• English knowledge; team spirit and collaboration.
• Availability for shifts between 8:00 and 20:00.

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, and optimize Windows desktop master images (Golden Images).
• Administer persistent (Full Clones) and non-persistent (Instant Clones) VDI pools.
• Manage access permissions, entitlements, and profiles (Horizon DEM/FSLogix).
• Monitor performance and capacity of the virtual infrastructure (Horizon Console, vSphere).
• Resolve 2nd- and 3rd-line incidents in VDI environments.
• Execute OS and application updates to mitigate vulnerabilities (patching/rebuilds).
• Implement compliance, security hardening, and auditing policies for virtual desktops.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation.
• Prepare periodic inventory, compliance, capacity, and performance reports (Excel/Power BI).
• Create and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation.

Job description

• Proven experience in the administration and support of VMware Horizon environments and the VMware vSphere ecosystem (vCenter and ESXi);
• Proficiency in creating and optimizing master images (Golden Images), managing persistent and floating Desktop Pools, and administering Horizon Connection Servers;
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server operating systems;
• Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, and DHCP;
• Hands-on experience in automation and scripting with PowerShell;
• Ability to analyze data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel or equivalent reporting tools;
• Structured approach to technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis;
• Technical writing skills and ability to produce procedural documentation;
• VMware or Microsoft certifications are an advantage;
• Knowledge of managing physical and virtual desktops using Microsoft Intune is an advantage;

Responsibilities

• Creation, configuration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Windows desktop master images (templates/Golden Images);
• Administration and provisioning of persistent (Full Clones) and floating/non-persistent (Instant Clones) VDI pools;
• Management of access permissions, user entitlements, and profiles (Horizon DEM/FSLogix);
• Continuous monitoring of the performance, stability, and capacity of the virtual infrastructure (Horizon Console, vSphere);
• Resolution of 2nd- and 3rd-line incidents in VDI environments;
• Execution of monthly and quarterly operating system and application update plans to mitigate vulnerabilities (patch management/recompose/image rebuilding);
• Implementation of compliance, security hardening, and auditing policies for virtual desktops;
• Development and maintenance of PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and maintenance routines;
• Preparation of periodic reports on inventory, compliance status, capacity, and performance metrics using Excel, Power BI, or management consoles;
• Creation and maintenance of operational procedures, contingency plans, and technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer between teams.
