ITDS Portugal in Porto is seeking a Mid-Level AI Engineer to help build AI-powered features, integrate language model APIs, and optimize RAG pipelines in a hybrid work setup.

You will work with Pinecone, Weaviate, and pgvector, plus LangChain and other agent frameworks, across AWS, GCP, and Azure, delivering scalable, production-ready solutions.

Qualificações

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with language model APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI).
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and vector databases.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered features, including AI raters, conversational AI modules, and productivity tools.
• Integrate large language model APIs into scalable, production-ready applications.
• Optimize prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and work with vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, and pgvector.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement API and microservice architecture on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Write clean, tested, and efficient code, ensuring high-quality deliverables and sustainable solutions.
• Utilize AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development workflows.
• Engage in continuous learning of ML fundamentals, model evaluation, and understanding limitations to improve model performance.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers, product managers, and stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities:

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably with Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience working with language model APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector).
• Familiarity with agent frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI.
• Competence in REST/GraphQL API design and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Basic understanding of ML fundamentals such as embeddings, model evaluation, and failure modes.
• Excellent communication skills; able to pair with senior engineers, product, and design teams.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience in Insurtech, Fintech, or other regulated industries.
• Certifications or additional expertise in AI/Machine Learning.
