Job summary

INESC TEC invites applications for a research grant at the interface of electrical engineering and mechatronics in Porto. The project seeks to design and validate robotic subsystems for vineyard or forest tasks, with firmware and embedded control work.

The stipend follows FCT grant tables and health insurance is provided. Applicants must hold a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering and be enrolled in a doctoral program, with experience in C/C++, Python, and embedded systems; CAD tools

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, enrolled in a doctoral program.
• Knowledge of mechatronic systems and integration of actuators and sensors.
• Knowledge of C/C++ and Python programming, embedded systems programming.
• Experience with CAD/3D modeling, electrical diagrams, and PCB development.
• Experience with distributed control and CAN bus is a plus.
• Experience with computer vision or sensing models for task automation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and validate mechatronic subsystems on modular platforms.
• Develop and test low-level control algorithms for agroforestry tasks.
• Support perception and vision module integration for automation.
• Develop docking/charging interfaces and perform field testing in real environments.
• Assist in firmware and embedded computing development and testing.
