Gedon | Precision Search For Complex Construction seeks a Mechanical Project Manager to lead the mechanical package on a hyperscale data centre project in the Braga region, Portugal. You will own procurement through commissioning, coordinating with electrical, civil and commercial teams in a fast-paced, high-spec environment.

The role offers a 17/4 rotation with accommodation and travel, plus a strong track record of promoting experienced managers into senior leadership roles across Europe.

Qualificações

Responsabilidades

• Take full ownership of the delivery of the mechanical package from procurement through to commissioning and handover
• Manage package programmes, installation sequencing and resource allocation to ensure delivery in line with the overall project schedule
• Coordinate specialist mechanical subcontractors and manage interfaces with the electrical, civil and commercial teams
• Lead mechanical design coordination and technical review, resolving buildability, spatial and interface issues ahead of installation
• Oversee installation quality across pipework, plant, cooling and associated mechanical infrastructure, holding inspection and test standards throughout
• Manage the testing, pressure testing, flushing, pre-commissioning and commissioning process in conjunction with client and third-party representatives
• Maintain robust project reporting, covering progress, risk, procurement status and forecast to completion
• Ensure all works are delivered to the required health, safety, quality and environmental standards
• Support commercial control of the package, working closely with the quantity surveying team on variations, valuations and cost forecasting
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain throughout delivery

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

You will join an experienced delivery team on a hyperscale data centre development in the Porto region, taking ownership of the mechanical package within a wider multidisciplinary programme. These are fast-paced, high-specification environments where the mechanical scope sits firmly on the critical path, and where technical rigour, sequencing and disciplined programme management carry real weight.

The working culture is collaborative and delivery-focused. Project teams are given genuine autonomy over their packages while being backed by experienced senior leadership and mature systems for planning, quality assurance and health and safety. Decisions are made close to the work, and managers who can think commercially as well as technically are given room to operate.

The role offers exposure across the full package lifecycle, from subcontractor procurement and design coordination through to installation, pressure testing, flushing, commissioning and client handover. You will work daily alongside client representatives, design consultants, specialist subcontractors, the electrical delivery team and the wider construction team, building the breadth of experience that positions professionals for senior appointments on future European projects.

The position operates on a 17/4 rotation, with accommodation and all travel provided. This structure delivers a focused and productive period on site followed by a genuine break away from the project, while the international setting offers the opportunity to work within an experienced, multinational team on one of the most active sectors in European construction.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Manager or Senior Mechanical Engineer delivering large-scale mechanical packages
• A strong M&E or specialist mechanical contracting background, with demonstrable ownership of package delivery from procurement to handover
• A mechanical engineering or building services discipline, gained through degree, diploma or trade and site progression
• Hyperscale, data centre or other mission-critical experience is beneficial but not essential; experience of complex, high-specification mechanical installations is what matters
• Sound understanding of mechanical design coordination, procurement, installation sequencing and the testing and commissioning process
• Strong subcontractor management and stakeholder communication skills, with the confidence to hold programme and quality standards
• Excellent written and spoken English is essential, as the project operates in English across a multinational team
• Willingness to work on a 17/4 rotational basis at an international project location
