Job summary

Visaoeste is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and professionalise the finance function after the merger of a project/service business with a manufacturing site in Portugal. You will combine hands-on financial control with business partnering and support the integration and systems development across the operation.

You will manage budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, cost accounting and project accounting while guiding ERP implementation and inventory governance, reporting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in financial controlling or a similar finance role, ideally in manufacturing.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations and performance analysis.
• Solid understanding of cost accounting, including standard/actual costing, WIP and overhead absorption.
• Experience with project accounting, margin forecasting or revenue recognition controls is a plus.
• Experience with ERP or finance-system implementation; Primavera knowledge is advantageous.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to convert data into actionable insights.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly and monthly financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, KPIs) with commentary.
• Own budget, rolling forecast and month-end close processes with audit-ready files.
• Provide analysis of revenue, margins, costs and production variances.
• Maintain project-level financial control over costs, billing, WIP and revenue recognition.
• Support production software implementation including costing, BOMs, routings and variances.
• Improve inventory governance with reconciliations, cycle counts and stock reviews.
• Drive working-capital improvements across receivables, payables, inventory and cash flow.
• Oversee journals, banking, payroll, fixed assets, Capex and access controls.
• Coordinate with external accountant for VAT, tax, statutory accounts and audits.
• Partner with MDs and operational teams to improve profitability and change.
