We are looking for a Mainframe Production Engineer
Main Tasks
- Provide N2 production support for IBM z/OS Mainframe applications and environments, ensuring system availability, stability and operational continuity.
- Monitor and support Mainframe production environments, including LPARs, JES, TSO, CICS and DB2 subsystems.
- Plan, execute and monitor batch processing workflows using workload scheduling tools.
- Analyze and troubleshoot batch failures (ABENDs), system messages, logs and job execution outputs.
- Perform job reruns, temporary parameter changes and production overrides following validation procedures.
- Investigate incidents related to JCL execution, job dependencies, processing failures and SLA breaches.
- Manage and support Mainframe operational activities involving datasets, GDGs, catalogs, JES queues and disk space management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot file transfer processes, including failed or blocked production flows.
- Execute production procedures and operational activities according to defined processes and standards.
- Participate in deployments, production releases and change management activities.
- Support technical teams by providing production analysis and troubleshooting assistance.
- Maintain operational documentation, technical procedures and incident records.
- Register and track incidents and activities through service management tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, stability and optimization of batch processing.
- Collaborate with Application Support, DevOps and Mainframe teams to improve operational efficiency.
Main Skills & Requirements
- Professional experience in IBM z/OS Mainframe production support (Mid-level profile).
- Strong knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) and batch processing operations.
- Experience with workload scheduling tools for batch execution and monitoring.
- Good knowledge of ISPF, SDSF and TSO.
- Experience in monitoring and resolving batch job incidents, ABENDs and execution errors.
- Ability to analyze system messages, logs, job outputs and execution reports.
Knowledge of Mainframe resources, including:
- LPARs
- Catalogs
- GDGs
- Datasets
Experience with DB2, including:
- SQL execution through SPUFI
- SQLCODE analysis
- Identification of SQL issues and locks
- Verification of DB2 job status
- Knowledge of CICS, IMS and VSAM is valued.
- Experience with IBM MQ / MQ Series, including queue monitoring and blocked message analysis.
- Experience with file transfer solutions (CFT / Connect:Direct / Connect:Express) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Service Management tools, ITIL processes and Agile methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
- Ability to work in critical production environments and manage priorities effectively.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to report incidents, risks and operational impacts clearly.
- French knowledge is considered a plus.
- This role offers a gross annual salary between 24.500€ to 60.500€, defined according to the candidate’s experience and competencies.
