Description

We are launching a Java & AWS development team in Lisbon and looking for a Senior Software Developer with deep expertise in Java and Spring. The role involves building robust, scalable solutions within AWS environments, working with Python, Terraform, and collaborating closely with data engineers and Scrum teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java 21, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, or pure JDBC.
• Integrate and optimize solutions with Oracle or Aurora PostgreSQL databases.
• Ensure code is robust, secure, and scalable following architecture and best practices.
• Build and deploy applications on AWS (ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch).
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Handle Python developments for automation, data processing, or integration tasks.
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure effective data integration and transformation.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver features.
• Participate in troubleshooting, monitoring, and user support activities.
• Mentor junior team members and support continuous improvement.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Suggest improvements to enhance system performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of experience in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, and pure JDBC.
• Strong command of relational databases.
• Experience developing and deploying solutions in AWS environments.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and backend tasks.
• Experience managing infrastructure using Terraform.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and secure coding practices.
• Experience with GitHub or GitLab.
• Experience collaborating with data engineering teams and integrating backend systems with data pipelines.
• Experience with AI tools or frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• AWS certification (Solution Architect or Developer) is preferred.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Agile mindset and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and performance.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in English; Portuguese and/or French is a plus.
