Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search team. This globally distributed group focuses on delivering a robust and feature-rich search experience, including vector similarity enhancements and contributions to Lucene.

You will design and implement new vector search features, fix complex bugs, and collaborate across time zones while writing idiomatic Java.

Qualificações

• Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases.
• Strong Java skills and knowledge of core data structures.
• Autonomy to own projects from design to delivery.
• Experience collaborating over the internet, preferably asynchronously.
• Familiarity with data storage technologies and distributed systems.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development.

Responsabilidades

• Lead initiatives to create a leading vector database offering with speed and relevance.
• Develop new search features and fix complex bugs; implement new algorithms or data structures.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team focusing on vector search capabilities.
• Serve as expert on Elasticsearch vector similarity and improve related areas.
• Engage with the community on issues and pull requests; triage and hand off when needed.
• Write idiomatic modern Java; contribute to a primarily Java-based codebase.
