Job summary

Amadeus is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to advance computer vision, ML and biometric tech from research to production. You will lead applied research on face recognition and biometric capture pipelines, guiding a largely remote team across Lisbon and Porto while delivering robust AI solutions for travel tech.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in CV/ML, a PhD preferred, strong Python and model-training skills, and a proven track record of shipping production-ready research.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in computer vision or related fields.
• PhD preferred in computer vision or related field.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on model training experience.
• Deep learning for image-based tasks.
• Willingness to mentor and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the applied-research strategy for face recognition, image quality, anti-spoofing and biometric capture pipelines.
• Set best practices from data acquisition, annotation and dataset governance through to model training, deployment, monitoring and retirement.
• Ensure rigor, fairness and compliance with EU AI Act, GDPR, ICAO, ISO and NIST standards while assessing accuracy, robustness, bias, security and privacy.
• Influence product and technology roadmaps, collaborate with cross-functional teams, resolve technical challenges and SDK support requests, contribute to European projects.
• Generate patents, publications and trade secrets, and mentor the next generation of researchers.
