Job summary

act digital in Lisbon is seeking an experienced AI Governance lead to design and implement the organization’s AI governance model, aligning with regulatory, business and risk requirements.

You will define the AI governance framework, establish structures, policies, controls and decision rights across the AI lifecycle, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure EU AI Act compliance and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years in IT governance projects.
• 2+ years hands-on AI governance project experience.
• Experience defining governance policies, frameworks or operating models.
• Strong knowledge of operating models, governance frameworks and enterprise governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition and design of the organization's AI governance model.
• Define the AI governance framework including structures, policies and controls.

• Design governance for the AI solution lifecycle from ideation to retirement.

Job description

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business Management, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT Governance projects.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in AI Governance projects.
• Proven experience contributing to at least 2 initiatives involving the definition of governance policies, frameworks or operating models.
• Strong experience defining organizational structures, roles, responsibilities and decision-making mechanisms.
• Solid knowledge of Operating Model Design, Governance Frameworks and Enterprise Governance.
• Experience defining AI solution lifecycle models and governance processes.
• Strong knowledge of the European Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act).
• Solid experience with Responsible AI, AI Lifecycle Governance and Model Governance.
• Good knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Ownership and Metadata Management.
• Experience defining policies, standards, guidelines and control frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI risk management and governance principles.
• Proven ability to facilitate executive-level workshops and support decision-making with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, strategic and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to translate regulatory and governance requirements into practical frameworks, policies and controls.
• Certifications such as COBIT, ISO 38500, TOGAF, DAMA or equivalent are a plus.
• Experience in the public sector or regulatory bodies is a plus.
• Preferably immediate availability.
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition and design of the organization's AI Governance model, ensuring alignment with regulatory, business and risk requirements.
• Define the overall AI Governance framework, including governance structures, decision-making processes, policies, controls and implementation principles.
• Ensure alignment with the EU AI Act and Responsible AI principles.
• Design the governance model for the AI solution lifecycle, from ideation and development through deployment, monitoring and retirement.
• Define clear roles, responsibilities, decision rights and accountability mechanisms across the AI lifecycle.
• Develop and structure AI Governance policies, standards, guidelines and control frameworks.
• Integrate AI Risk Management, Model Governance and Data Governance principles into the overall governance framework.
• Define mechanisms to ensure appropriate Data Quality, Data Ownership and Metadata Management for AI initiatives.
• Assess governance requirements and translate them into practical and actionable operating models and control mechanisms.
• Develop the AI Governance roadmap, including priorities, implementation phases and key milestones.
• Lead workshops with senior stakeholders to gather requirements, align governance principles and facilitate strategic decisions.
• Engage with business, technology, risk, compliance, data and other relevant stakeholders to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Identify governance gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization’s AI risk and control environment.
• Support the definition of appropriate governance committees, forums and escalation mechanisms.
• Ensure that the proposed governance model is scalable and aligned with the organization’s corporate operating model and enterprise governance structure.
• Produce executive-level documentation, recommendations and presentations to support governance decisions.
• Contribute to the continuous evolution of the AI Governance framework in response to regulatory, technological and organizational changes.
