Avanta Works in Funchal, Madeira region, is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant. The role requires 1–2 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field, and a solid grasp of basic accounting principles.

You will prepare financial records, process invoices, and support month-end close. Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to work independently or as part of a team, and proficient in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks and SAP.

Junior Accountant

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team in Funchal. This full-time position requires a candidate with at least 1-2 years of experience in accounting. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records
• Process invoices, payments, and expense reports
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
• Assist with month-end close procedures
• Communicate with clients and vendors regarding billing and payments
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements
• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Experience working with multiple clients/accounts
• Familiarity with tax preparation software (TurboTax, H&R Block, etc.)

Salary: $1500/month

Location: Funchal, Portugal
