Job summary

Decskill is an IT consulting company with over 10 years in the market, operating from Lisbon, Porto, and Madrid. We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain server-side components for the Credit eTrading platform, focusing on performance, security, and reliability.

You will collaborate with Front Office traders, Support teams, and other engineers to deliver scalable solutions, participate in migrations, and drive continuous improvement in architecture and code

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a quantitative field or engineering.
• Strong Java knowledge and OOP principles.
• Experience with high-performance, scalable backend services.
• Experience with Agile software development.
• Familiarity with Front Office tech and trading workflows.
• Exposure to eTrading, OMS, and market connectivity.
• Excellent communication with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side components for the Credit eTrading platform.
• Develop and maintain OMS and market connectivity layers.
• Add features for bond quoting, auto-negotiation, RFQ workflows.
• Deliver clean, scalable Java applications with high quality and security.
• Collaborate with Production Support during releases and maintenance.
• Work with Front Office traders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Provide Level3 production support when required.
• Contribute to platform evolution through feature work and refactoring.
• Participate in migrations and architecture improvements.

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side components for the Credit eTrading platform.
• Develop and maintain the Credit eTrading Order Management System (OMS) and market connectivity layers.
• Implement new features for bond quoting, auto-negotiation, RFQ workflows, and market connectivity.
• Deliver clean, high-performance, scalable, and testable Java applications.
• Ensure the platform meets high standards of quality, security, reliability, and performance.
• Apply best practices in software design, coding, and testing.
• Produce maintainable and well-structured code with strong attention to detail.
• Collaborate closely with the Production Support team during releases and ongoing maintenance.
• Work directly with Front Office traders to understand business requirements and deliver solutions.
• Provide Level3 (L3) production support when required.
• Contribute to the evolution of the Credit eTrading platform through feature development and system enhancements.
• Participate in migration and refactoring initiatives to modernize existing applications.
• Support the continuous improvement of the trading platform architecture.

• Experience interacting directly with traders and business stakeholders.
• Bachelor's or higher degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, Agile environment.
• High attention to detail and commitment to code quality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, Front Office environment.
