Job summary

Fyld is a Portuguese consulting company hiring a Java Backend Developer to join a fast-growing team in Porto. The role focuses on building scalable backend services for banking-related projects with a strong emphasis on Java, Spring, and microservices.

Fluency in French and English is mandatory to collaborate with international clients. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of Java experience, solid knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Java development.
• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Hibernate / JPA.
• Experience designing REST APIs and backend services.
• Good understanding of API design, integration and security principles.
• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle or MySQL).
• Good knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito).
• Good knowledge of Git and version control practices.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns and clean code.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing backend applications.
• Previous professional experience in banking or financial services.
• Understanding of financial products, banking processes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in Agile development teams.
• Fluency in French and English – mandatory.
