Job summary

Ytech, a technology start-up in Lisbon, seeks a Lead Java Backend Developer with 5+ years of experience to drive the design and evolution of Unified Commerce solutions. You will lead Java microservices, enforce security standards, and collaborate with frontend teams to ensure seamless integration with React components.

The role requires strong architectural vision, hands-on leadership, and the ability to mentor developers while shaping technical direction and ADRs within a hybrid Lisbon

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and deployment of Java microservices focusing on scalability, performance and security.

• Lead the design, development and implementation of Java microservices, ensuring scalability, performance and security
• Participate in the development and evolution of Unified Commerce products
• Define and promote architectural standards, development best practices and application security
• Design and implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions using Keycloak, Okta and OIDC
• Configure realms in Keycloak and implement identity federation and authentication mechanisms
• Participate in architectural decisions and lead technical discussions with Product Owners, architects and other stakeholders
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to performance, scalability and security in distributed systems
• Lead code reviews, define quality gates and promote the use of tools such as SonarQube and Snyk
• Ensure code quality, reusability and maintainability, promoting software engineering best practices
• Provide technical support to junior and mid-level developers, encouraging knowledge sharing and team development
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and runbooks
• Collaborate with frontend teams working with React, ensuring efficient integration between the different solution components
• Represent the engineering team in technical and architectural decisions with the client

• More than 5 years of professional experience in software development
• Solid and in-depth experience with Java and microservices architectures
• Experience developing distributed, scalable and high-performance systems
• Solid knowledge of application security, vulnerability management and Identity and Access Management
• Experience with Keycloak, Okta and authentication protocols such as OIDC
• Experience defining architectural standards and quality gates, and leading code reviews
• Knowledge of code quality and security tools such as SonarQube and Snyk
• Knowledge of React and the ability to collaborate with frontend teams
• Experience creating technical documentation, ADRs and runbooks
• Experience in technical leadership, mentoring and supporting developers
• Strong communication skills, autonomy and decision-making ability
• Advanced Portuguese and English (C1)
• Currently residing in Portugal and available for a hybrid working arrangement in Lisbon
