Job summary

Arbe-it is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join a project in the insurance sector in Lisbon. This hands-on role combines business analysis with full project stewardship from requirements gathering to delivery.

You will work with business areas, IT teams and senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions, define scope, and ensure projects deliver meaningful results. Portuguese is essential and English at C1 or above is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT project management and business analysis experience.

• Ability to combine business analysis and project management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Own the full project lifecycle from requirements definition to delivery and closure.
• Engage with business stakeholders to gather, document, validate, and challenge requirements.
• Manage multiple small projects or lead larger initiatives as scope dictates.
• Define project scope, timelines, milestones, and delivery plans.
• Manage stakeholders and change across business and IT, including executives.
• Prepare executive presentations, project status reports, and delivery updates.
• Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests to keep projects on track.
• Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams.
• Challenge assumptions, identify gaps, and push back when out-of-scope.
• Take accountability for both strategic direction and day-to-day execution.

The ideal candidate has a background in business analysis within the insurance industry and has evolved into a project management role, with experience working in large multinational organizations.

What you’ll be doing:

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience across IT project management and business analysis.
• Proven experience managing IT and technology projects in large organizations or multinational environments.
• Previous experience in the insurance industry, with the ability to understand business processes, challenge assumptions, and define requirements.
• A strong track record of independently managing projects end to end.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly.
• A highly structured, organized, and proactive approach to project delivery.
• Confidence in challenging senior stakeholders and managing scope expectations.
• Ability to combine business analysis and project management responsibilities rather than relying on a handover between roles.
• Portuguese proficiency is essential, and English at C1 level or above is required.
