Descrição da oferta de emprego

Let’s grow the brand without diluting the magic.

The Epic Talent Society is a transformation agency.

We help organisations and individuals change at the pace of the present. We design workshops and learning experiences, represent remarkable speakers and help companies recruit the frontier roles of our time.

Through everything we do, we try to bring fresher thinking, greater humanity and a little more courage to the world of work.

Over the years, we have built a brand people recognise.

Part of that recognition comes from how our work looks. But aesthetics alone do not explain it. Our real distinctiveness lies in the thinking behind the work: the unexpected question, the cultural reference, the provocation that makes someone pause, the sentence that gives language to something they already felt.

At its best, our communication feels unmistakably Epic.

But there is an uncomfortable truth behind it: too much of that distinctiveness still depends on our founder having the idea, finding the angle, writing the words and asking someone else to bring them to life.

That has created some wonderful work. It has not yet created the coherent, consistent and increasingly autonomous communication function Epic now needs.

That is why we are looking for a Head of Brand & Editorial.
The role
  • This is a strategically important and progressively autonomous role.
  • You will help transform Epic’s communication from a collection of inspired moments into a recognisable body of work.
  • You will develop the editorial intelligence behind our brand: what we talk about, what we believe, which questions we place in the world and how our communication supports the direction of the business.
  • You will help us become clearer without becoming predictable. More consistent without becoming repetitive. More organised without losing spontaneity. More prolific without producing noise.
  • Initially, you will work closely with our founder—not simply to receive briefs, but to understand the instincts, tensions and convictions that have shaped Epic’s voice.
  • Your task will be to absorb that source material, challenge it, extend it and gradually build an editorial system that no longer depends on one person originating every idea.
  • Over time, we want you to own that system.
  • To propose the themes. Spot the opportunity. Find the angle. Write the words. Shape the format. Brief the creative expression. Decide what deserves to be made—and recognise what does not.
  • The ambition is not to remove the founder’s voice from Epic. It is to make him a source rather than a bottleneck.
  • What you will be building
  • Epic already has a visual identity, an audience and a point of view. You will not be arriving at an empty page.
  • But you will create something we do not yet fully have: an editorial architecture connecting our ideas, commercial priorities, services, publications and public presence.
  • That includes social media, but it goes much further.
  • It includes the Epic Talent Review, our quarterly magazine and one of the clearest expressions of our intellectual identity. It includes our campaigns, events, proposals, speaker communications, job advertisements and the materials through which people encounter Epic before they ever work with us.
  • Your job is to ensure that these expressions belong to the same mind, spirit and organisation.
  • Not identical. Coherent.
This is not just a copywriting role
  • You must be an exceptional writer. Words matter enormously here, but they are not the whole job.
  • You should know how to make a complex idea feel simple without making it simplistic. You should have an ear for rhythm, an intolerance for clichés and the confidence to remove a paragraph when one sentence will do.
  • But beautiful sentences will not be enough.
  • We are not only looking for someone who can improve a brief. We need someone who can question it, discover the idea behind it and occasionally tell us that the piece should not exist at all.
This is not a content-factory role either
  • Success will not be measured by the number of posts produced or fashionable formats adopted. We care about relevance, recognition and resonance. We want communication that strengthens the business because it strengthens what Epic means.
  • Nor is this a distant leadership role. You will think and make, moving between strategy and sentences, an annual editorial direction and the precise wording of a headline.
  • Are you the person we are hoping to meet?
  • You are intellectually curious and culturally awake.
  • You pay attention to how work, technology, society and language are changing. Your references do not all come from the same business books, LinkedIn conversations or consultancy reports.
  • You might find an idea in an exhibition, a scientific discovery, a film, a behavioural contradiction or something overheard in a café. You understand that originality rarely means inventing from nothing. More often, it means seeing the connection before everyone else does.
  • You can think strategically without writing like a strategist. You can be commercially aware without turning every thought into a sales message.
  • You are an editor in the deepest sense of the word. You can recognise the promising thought inside an imperfect draft, help others express what they know and bring order to many voices without making everyone sound the same.
  • You are comfortable with autonomy and honest about the responsibility it brings. You create direction, propose priorities and move work forward. You ask for input when it improves the result—not because you need permission at every turn.
  • You have taste, but you are not precious. You can defend an idea rigorously, abandon it gracefully and improve it collaboratively.
  • And you know how to use AI without surrendering your judgment to it.
  • The final work must feel observed, considered and alive. If it could have been written by anyone, for any organisation, it is not ready.
What you will do

You will:

  • Define and lead Epic’s brand and editorial strategy.
  • Build an editorial agenda connecting communication with our business priorities.
  • Originate campaigns, recurring formats, publications and creative concepts.
  • Lead the editorial development of the Epic Talent Review.
  • Write and edit manifestos, articles, campaigns, proposals, speaker stories, job advertisements and social content.
  • Work closely with our creative director so that ideas, words and aesthetics strengthen one another.
  • Turn expertise, conversations and half-formed provocations from the team into relevant communication.
  • Establish the rhythms, standards and criteria that allow the function to operate with growing independence.
Your first chapter

During your first months, you will listen carefully.

You will study what Epic has made, understand what has resonated and identify where our communication has become fragmented. You will spend time with the founder and the team, understand the business and help us articulate a clearer editorial strategy.

From there, responsibility should begin to shift.

The question will gradually stop being, "What would the founder like us to say?" and become, "What does Epic need to say now?"

That transition will be one of the clearest measures of your success.

What success looks like

Epic’s communication becomes more coherent without becoming formulaic.

Our ideas become easier to recognise and harder to imitate.

The Epic Talent Review develops a stronger editorial identity.

Our creative director receives better concepts, briefs and priorities.

Communication begins to anticipate the needs of the business instead of reacting to them.

People increasingly feel that Epic’s communication is not an accessory to our work.

It is evidence of it.

You may have worked in editorial, a creative agency, a strategy consultancy, a cultural institution, an ambitious start-up or a brand with something meaningful to say.

You may have been an editor, creative strategist, senior copywriter, brand strategist, content director or communications lead. Your title matters less than the quality of your judgment.

We want to see work that reveals how you think, not only how you write.

Show us the ideas you originated. The subjects you reframed. The publication you shaped. The campaign that began with an observation no one else had made. The work that became better because you understood what to remove.

Most of all, show us that you can turn a point of view into a body of work.

Why this role matters

Epic is growing. Our communication must now grow up without growing dull.

We need greater clarity, consistency and discipline. But we refuse to achieve them by sanding away the curiosity, humour and conceptual freshness that brought people to us in the first place.

You will inherit a brand with character, an unusually broad canvas and a founder who genuinely cares about language and ideas. You will also inherit unfinished systems, competing priorities and a degree of creative dependence that your appointment is intended to resolve.

We think the right person will find that exhilarating. Because this is not a vacancy for someone who wants to keep the channels busy. It is an invitation to become one of the authors of Epic’s next chapter.
