Your Role

As a Flutter Developer based in Lisbon, you join our Flutter team and expand engineering bandwidth across time zones. You independently own and ship at least two major feature releases in our Flutter product within your first 12 months, while maintaining a crash‑free rate above 99.5% and a code review turnaround under 24 hours. You are fully integrated into our Germany‑based Flutter team's daily workflow.

We are hiring this role because our Flutter team in Germany is at capacity, creating bottlenecks in feature delivery and increasing turnaround times on client‑facing mobile projects. Without this hire, we cannot meet our 2026 mobile product roadmap commitments. You report directly to Director Engineering & Technology Michael Huber and collaborate daily with the Germany team. Daily working language is English.

Your Responsibilities

• Feature Ownership. You lead end‑to‑end delivery of at least one major feature per year (design, QA, App Store and Play Store release) and ship at least two major releases within 12 months.

• Onboarding and Independence. You onboard into our codebase, toolchain (Jira, Confluence, Git), and daily team rituals within 3 months and deliver reviewed PRs independently from there on.

• Architecture Participation. You participate in architecture decisions and can articulate and defend state management choices (BLoC or Riverpod) in team reviews.

• Production Stability. You maintain a crash‑free rate of 99.5% or higher across all owned features and respond to production incidents within SLA.

• Backend Integration. You handle Node.js and REST backend touchpoints independently, removing yourself as a bottleneck on the Germany team for API integration tasks.

• CI/CD Contribution. You contribute to pipeline improvements: build time, test reliability, deployment automation.

• Async Collaboration. You act as a reliable async collaboration partner: documentation, async updates, and PR comments meet team standards with no follow‑up required.

Your Profile

• 3 to 6+ years of Flutter and Dart production experience. You can reason about widget lifecycle, performance bottlenecks, and custom rendering. You have personally debugged a non‑trivial production crash using Flutter DevTools and resolved it without senior support.

• State management depth: you have implemented BLoC or Riverpod in a production app at scale, can explain tradeoffs versus competing approaches, and have made an architectural change that measurably improved maintainability.

• Cross‑platform delivery track record: you have submitted and maintained apps on both App Store and Play Store. You understand platform‑specific signing, review policies, and release management, not just “it works on simulator”.

• Backend integration: comfortable with REST API design, Firebase (Firestore, Auth, FCM), and Node.js backends. You can write a basic endpoint or debug an integration issue without escalating.

• Proven async remote collaboration: you have worked daily with a distributed team across timezones and can leave PRs, Jira comments, and Confluence notes at a quality that removes the need for sync follow‑up.

• Quality ownership: you write unit and widget tests by default, not as an afterthought. You have personally caught a production regression through test coverage.

• Business‑fluent English: you can lead a technical discussion, write a clear design doc, and push back constructively in a team review. Portuguese native speaker for local context.

• Availability for at least 2 days per week at our Lisbon office.

• You flag blockers early and proactively instead of waiting for the daily sync to surface them.

• You take accountability for post‑release stability of your features. Production crashes are not “not your area” or deferred entirely to someone senior.

• You approach testing as part of the job, not an afterthought. You can point to a regression your tests caught that otherwise would have reached users.

• You know how to disagree with an architectural choice that is already in production, especially when the original author is in another timezone. You come with a proposal and evidence, not a complaint.

• You are comfortable growing into senior and tech lead territory over time, not only shipping tickets.
