Job summary

IT House is seeking a seasoned FinOps Engineer for a client in the insurance sector, based in Lisbon. The role focuses on implementing FinOps strategies, cloud cost management, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize multi-cloud spending.

You will partner with product teams and senior leadership to deliver cost insights and drive savings. We require 6+ years in cloud operations, a Master's degree, and relevant certifications (AWS/Azure/FinOps).

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in cloud operations and IT.
Master's degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related field.
Certification from AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or FinOps Foundation.
Deep expertise in FinOps, cloud cost management, and financial analysis.
Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud (billing models, architecture).
Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience managing stakeholders and presenting to senior leadership.
Knowledge of financial management principles applied to cloud cost governance.
Fluent English (mandatory).
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Implement FinOps strategies, policies, and best practices to control and optimize cloud spending across multiple platforms.
Bridge finance, engineering, and operations by promoting cloud cost management, budgeting, and forecasting best practices.
Support product teams on product management and finance processes, including budget/forecast and cost optimization target setting.
Identify and evaluate cost optimization opportunities, providing recommendations and implementation support.
Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud costs and usage, ensuring cost visibility and transparency across product lines.
Deliver regular reports and insights on cloud spend, trends, and anomalies to stakeholders.
Implement tools and automation for cost tracking, reporting, and optimization.
Challenge application teams on infrastructure choices, balancing cost optimization with quality of service.
Monitor cloud pricing trends, new platform capabilities, and FinOps best practices to inform decision-making.
