Trina Solar is expanding its Utility Storage team in Portugal and seeks a Field Service Engineer (Utility BESS). The role covers commissioning, maintenance, fault finding, and on-site supervision across utility-scale energy storage installations.

The candidate will read schematics, work with SCADA/EMS systems, and travel across Portugal as needed, ensuring safety and compliance on every project site.

Qualificações

• Electrical/electrotechnical qualification with proven field experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance or fault finding.
• Experience on utility-scale electrical systems, preferably including BESS, PCS/Inverters, DC battery systems, MV/LV switchgear, SCADA, BMS or EMS.
• Electrical safety training and authorisation for work on or near electrical installations.
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and OEM manuals.

Responsabilidades

• Execute pre-commissioning, cold commissioning and hot commissioning of utility scale BESS projects.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on installed energy storage projects.
• Validate electrical installations, system configuration and performance.
• Troubleshoot faults across DC systems, PCS/Inverters, MV equipment, SCADA and auxiliaries.
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure site works meet safety, quality and project requirements.
• Complete commissioning records, service reports and handover documentation.
• Support client training, site handover, warranty investigations and technical reporting.

We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer (Utility BESS) to join our Utility Storage team in Portugal.

Responsibilities

• Execute pre-commissioning, cold commissioning and hot commissioning of utility scale BESS projects
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on installed energy storage projects
• Valid at electrical installations, system configuration and performance
• Troubleshoot faults across DC systems, PCS/Inverters, MV equipment, SCADA and auxiliaries
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure site works meet safety, quality and project requirements
• Complete commissioning records, service reports, fault reports and handover documentation
• Support client training, site handover, warranty investigations and technical reporting
• Support regional delivery, commissioning and O&M activities, including travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

• Electrical, electrotechnical, or equivalent technical qualification, with proven experience in electrical installation, commissioning, maintenance, or fault finding
• Proven experience working on utility-scale electrical systems, preferably including BESS, PCS/inverters, DC battery systems, MV/LV switchgear, transformers, SCADA, BMS or EMS systems
• Electrical safety training, competence and authorisation required for work on or near electrical installations
• Competence to work under EN 50110-1 and applicable Portuguese electrical safety procedures, including live LV work, work near live parts and work in the vicinity of HV/MV systems
• Practical experience using correctly rated electrical test equipment, diagnostic tools
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interlock logic, commissioning procedures and OEM technical manuals
• Experience with installation, commissioning, energisation, maintenance and fault finding across DC systems, PCS/inverters, MV interfaces and SCADA systems
• Familiarity with BMS, EMS, SCADA, PLCs, communication networks, HVAC, fire detection/suppression interfaces and auxiliary systems
• Ability to work under permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, switching, isolation, RAMS and site safety procedures
• Completion of mandatory workplace health and safety training under Portuguese safety requirements before site deployment
• Ability to complete commissioning records, test reports, service reports, fault reports, risk assessments and handover documentation accurately
• Legal right to work in Portugal
• Valid Category B driving licence
• Willingness to travel across Portugal and internationally as required

Preferred / additional

• Previous utility-scale BESS installation, commissioning or maintenance experience
• Experience with OEM-supplied integrated systems covering DC batteries, PCS, MV equipment and SCADA
• Medium-voltage switching experience on 11 kV-33 kV systems
• Formal MV switching authorisation under client, DSO/TSO or site rules
• Experience on substations, renewable-energy plants, grid-connected storage projects or industrial power systems
• Knowledge of Portuguese MV/HV grid-connection requirements and applicable DGEG / network operator rules
• Experience with remote diagnostics, alarm analysis, firmware updates, data logs and root-cause analysis
• Availability for call-out, outage support, overtime or occasional weekend work
