We are looking for a practical and highly organised Facility Supervisor to support the establishment and day-to-day operation of our manufacturing facility in Braga, Portugal.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Braga, Portugal.

The Facility Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, readiness, and continuous improvement of BASEYARD’s manufacturing facility and supporting infrastructure.

The role covers building maintenance, utilities, technical infrastructure, contractors, facility services, access control, workplace readiness, preventive maintenance, repairs, and facility-related HSE activities.

Working closely with the Plant Manager, Production, Engineering, QHSE, IT, Security, Procurement, and external providers, the Facility Supervisor will ensure a safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient environment for advanced manufacturing operations.

We are looking for a hands-on professional who can identify problems early, coordinate technical solutions, manage contractors, and minimise facility-related operational disruptions.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation and readiness of BASEYARD’s manufacturing facility.
• Ensure production areas, offices, warehouses, laboratories, and supporting infrastructure remain safe, functional, organised, and operational.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of facility infrastructure and equipment.
• Manage utilities and technical building systems, including electricity, lighting, HVAC, water, compressed air, ventilation, and fire protection.
• Coordinate facility repairs, installations, modifications, and improvement works.
• Manage external contractors, maintenance providers, cleaning, security, waste management, and other facility-related suppliers.
• Supervise contractor activities and ensure compliance with BASEYARD safety, security, quality, and operational requirements.
• Support the establishment and modification of production areas, workstations, laboratories, warehouses, offices, and technical spaces.
• Coordinate facility readiness for installation and commissioning of production equipment.
• Support production layout changes and facility modifications together with Plant Management, Engineering, and Production.
• Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, inspection routines, service records, and facility documentation.
• Identify infrastructure risks, maintenance requirements, and potential operational disruptions.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and ensure timely response to critical facility failures.
• Support QHSE in workplace safety, emergency preparedness, fire safety, evacuation, environmental, and facility compliance activities.
• Ensure required inspections, maintenance activities, and facility-related certifications are completed on time.
• Support access control, physical security, visitor management, restricted areas, and other site-security arrangements.
• Coordinate waste collection, recycling, housekeeping, cleaning, and general site organisation.
• Monitor utility consumption and support energy-efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Maintain facility equipment, tools, spare parts, technical assets, and critical consumables.
• Support procurement of facility services, maintenance materials, equipment, spare parts, and technical services.
• Monitor contractor performance, maintenance costs, service agreements, and facility-related operating expenses.
• Maintain facility drawings, equipment records, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and contractor documentation.
• Support customer visits, audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections related to the facility.
• Coordinate facility activities with the landlord, property management, utilities providers, authorities, and other external stakeholders.
• Support facility expansion, fit-out projects, infrastructure upgrades, and future production capacity development.
• Respond quickly to facility-related issues and coordinate corrective actions to minimise production downtime.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in facility management, facility supervision, industrial maintenance, technical building management, or a similar operational role.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, logistics, technology, or another technically demanding environment.
• Practical understanding of building systems, utilities, HVAC, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and industrial maintenance.
• Experience coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Experience managing contractors, technical service providers, and external suppliers.
• Ability to identify technical problems, coordinate solutions, and follow issues through to completion.
• Good understanding of workplace safety and safe contractor management.
• Ability to maintain maintenance schedules, technical documentation, inspection records, and service history.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Practical, hands‑on mindset and willingness to be actively involved in day-to-day facility operations.
• Ability to respond effectively to urgent issues and manage multiple priorities.
• Cost‑conscious mindset and ability to evaluate facility and maintenance requirements pragmatically.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑growing environment where infrastructure and processes are being established from the ground up.
• Good English communication skills are required.

Nice to Have

• Experience in aerospace, defence, electronics, automotive, robotics, industrial equipment, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience establishing, commissioning, expanding, or relocating an industrial facility.
• Experience with production facility fit‑out and infrastructure upgrades.
• Knowledge of Portuguese industrial facility, workplace safety, fire safety, environmental, and building requirements.
• Experience working with Portuguese authorities, landlords, utilities providers, or industrial property managers.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems or CMMS.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, AS9100, AQAP, or similar systems.
• Understanding of physical security and access‑control requirements.
• Experience supporting installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment.
