Solvay is recruiting an Export Control and Sanctions Expert to join the Global Trade function. You will lead ECS projects, maintain process documentation, and ensure compliance across regions. The role covers policy implementation, monitoring, and reporting within a hybrid work setup.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in International Trade, Law, or related fields and have 3+ years in export control. Fluency in English and SAP GTS knowledge are desired assets.

• Implement group trade compliance policies and programs.

• Monitor regulatory changes and implement region-specific updates.
• Advise on compliant export/import operations with licenses and sanctions lists.
• Create and maintain import/export documentation and end-user/end-use certificates.
• Deploy initiatives and projects and measure KPIs.
• Provide ECS training and communicate updates to the network.

About The Role

Our Global Trade function, composed of 15 people, focuses on trade compliance and operational excellence in collaboration with Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain and HSE. Our Export Control and Sanctions (ECS) team, composed of 5 people, is integrated into the Global Trade function and focuses on leveraging our expertise in ECS regulations as well as digital solutions to keep our business operating compliantly.

As an Export Control and Sanctions Expert, you will work on ECS control process build-up and maintenance and lead ECS projects to support the implementation of evolving regulatory changes and stringent governmental requirements. You will be able to contribute to key and strategic ECS priorities and positively impact the ECS ecosystem. You will be accountable for:

• Group Trade Compliance Policy & Program Implementation
• Lead ECS digital evolutions both at regional and global level
• Monitoring regulation evolvement, interpreting, and taking the lead on the implementation in the responsible region
• Advise on compliant export and import operations with applicable regulations (License determination, Sanction Partner Lists, Embargos)
• Create and maintain process documentation (Import/Export licenses determination, End-user/End-use certificate collection)
• Successful deployment of initiatives and projects
• Up-to-date communication, awareness, and training for the ECS network
• Regular reporting and KPIs on current activities

We offer a temporary contract for 9 months to cover a maternity leave, based on hybrid working mode (2 days a week if you are from the Lisbon metropolitan area or 2 days a month if you live outside the Lisbon metropolitan area).

About You

Relevant degree or equivalent in International Trade, Law, Supply Chain, Business Management. Relevant work experience of at least 3 years in export control and sanctions or global trade.

Competencies:

• Fluent in English
• Understanding of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations
• Ability to identify & anticipate regulatory and geopolitical evolutions, continuous improvement, negotiation skills
• Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions
• SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) knowledge is desired

About The Pay

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The annual base pay expected for this role is EUR 32,480 to EUR 40,600. Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
