Gaming1 in Portugal is seeking an Engineering Manager who will lead one product engineering team and stay hands-on 30–50% of the time. The role emphasizes technical leadership, quality, and fast feedback loops, with AI-assisted practices when it adds value.
You will enable the team to deliver customer value, collaborate with product, and foster ownership and continuous improvement in a supportive environment. This is a technical leadership role, not merely delivery management.

An Engineering Manager (EM) leads one product engineering team and combines:
The Engineering Manager’s primary role is to create the conditions in which the team can do its best work, adapt to change, and continuously improve. This includes evolving practices and tools over time, such as the responsible adoption of automation and AI when it brings clear value.
This is explicitly not a delivery or project management role.
It is a technical leadership role, close to the team, the code, and the product, without requiring the EM to be the most senior or specialized engineer.
As an Engineering Manager, your mission is to ensure your team:
You focus on enabling the team to succeed by setting clear expectations, fostering ownership, facilitating good decision-making, and removing impediments.
