Job summary

Vista is seeking an experienced and versatile Engineering Manager to lead our technology department and help build the next generation of our bespoke software platform. You will collaborate with business units and the wider tech team to deliver efficient digital processes for a global 24x7 operation.

The role demands hands-on cloud expertise with AWS, serverless, EKS, and IaC, plus strong people leadership.

Qualifications

10+ years in Software Engineering, including 5+ years in engineering management.
Proven leadership of software teams in cloud-based environments.
Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
Hands-on expertise with AWS, serverless services, EKS, and event-driven design.
Experience with CI/CD systems, observability, and IaC (Terraform).
Fluency in backend languages (Java, Python, Node.js) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
Strong Scrum, Agile, and DevOps practices.
Cloud-native architectures and scalable system design.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Adaptable to evolving technologies.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and mentorship to up to 2 teams of software engineers, around 12 engineers.
Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services (Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, RDS, SNS/SQS).
Manage the team’s engineering process and ensure adherence to guidelines.
Act as scrum master and manage team performance.
Provide estimates for new features and manage delivery dates.
Conduct interviews during hiring processes.
Drive CI/CD, test automation, and observability practices.
Collaborate with product managers to align priorities.
Observe and enforce architectural standards.
Provide Level 3 support for services in collaboration with Support.
Work with DevOps, DBAs and Infra to resolve incidents.
Enforce security standards.
Promote engineering best practices and code quality.
Monitor application KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Foster collaboration, accountability, and learning.
Lead and mentor engineers, guide development.
Conduct performance reviews.
Oversee delivery of high-quality solutions.
Encourage collaboration and accountability.
