Keenfinity Group in Portugal is seeking an Embedded Software Tester to join the firmware development team. You will automate tests, apply Clean Code, and work closely with firmware developers to detect defects early.

Responsibilities include defining test frameworks, selecting what to automate, writing test scenarios, reporting results, and ensuring coverage across hardware-software interfaces.

The role offers a hybrid work model, training opportunities, and collaboration with global teams.

Qualificações

• Experience programming in Python and Linux environments.
• 5+ years in software testing with focus on embedded systems.
• Knowledge of test design, boundary testing and equivalence partitioning.
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces and safety critical systems is a plus.
• Strong communication in English; Portuguese knowledge is beneficial.

The department Public Address is concerned with the development of hardware and software solutions for the PRAESENSA Public Address and Voice Alarm systems. These systems are high-end, secure, redundant, supervised and used globally in very visible locations like airports, shopping malls, cruise ships and public transportation. The work includes all stages of product development from a feasibility study to final test and release of the product for mass production. This is done with the use of state of the art development methods, tools and components.

Job Description

The Embedded Software Tester tests software to detect defects as early as possible. Testing is mainly done by automation. The Software Tester applies Clean Code when producing code. The Embedded SW Tester works in the firmware development team closely with the firmware developers.

• Decide on which tests to automate and how
• Define test cases and write scenarios and code to test against the specifications
• Apply Clean Code principles to Gherkin, glue code, test code,….
• Determine which tests to execute when, e.g. daily or per release
• Ensure smooth operation of daily testing and firmware staging
• Automatically Reports test results
• Submitting defects of failing test cases
• Documents (changes to) the design
• Align with other testers (application / system) to ensure sufficient test coverage

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience in programming in Python
• 5+ years
• Experience in Linux and IP Networks
• Experience in using happy flows, alternative flows and sad flows
• Experience in Functional Testing but also Non-Functional testing
• Experience in Configuration Management tools like e.g. Subversion, Git Necessary know how / skills
• University education in computer or software science at Bachelor level or higher
• Specific knowledge of test technologies like e.g. boundary testing and equivalence partitioning
• Affinity with hardware
• Intelligent, abstract, analytical and creative thinker
• Pro-active and with good organisation skills
• Good communication in both Portuguese and English
• Knowledge and experience in Audio and safety critical systems is a plus
• Planning and team lead experience
• Has a strong drive to produce Clean Code and support/create a stable test environment
