Job summary

CALB is seeking an EHS Engineer to join our team in Sines, Portugal. The role focuses on ensuring EHS compliance for new projects, coordinating risk mitigation, and supervising environmental monitoring during construction.

The candidate will lead accident and incident management, emergency response planning, and ensure alignment with relevant ISO standards and ESG practices. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of related experience, an engineering degree, and strong English

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a related EHS position.
• Experience in industry.
• Degree related to the field.
• Proficiency in English.
• Familiar with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO15001, ISO14064, ISO14067 management systems.
• ESG knowledge.
• Ability to coordinate accident/incident response and emergency planning.

Responsibilities

• Ensures EHS compliance of projects in Portugal (EIA, radioactive sources, special equipment, chemicals, etc.).
• Identifies EHS risks during project approvals and coordinates the project team to control risks.
• Supervises environmental monitoring during plant construction and oversees the construction party to fulfil EHS duties in the contract.
• Ensures equipment move-in, ESO checking, power system plant acceptance for smooth operation.
• Establishes accident and incident management system and emergency response process and plan, investigates incidents, and drives continuous EHS improvement.
• Identifies EHS laws and regulations during construction and operation, builds the EHS management system, and drives continuous improvement.

CALB (Europe) S.A is looking for an EHS Engineer to join our team in Sines.

Responsibilities

• Ensures EHS compliance of new projects in Portugal (EIA, radioactive sources, special equipment, chemicals, etc.); new construction, renovation and expansion projects, safety and environmental protection related procedures (e.g., environmental permits, industrial permits, radioactive source permits, pressure equipment, chemical use permits, etc.).
• Identifies EHS risks during the process of submitting approval for the construction of the plant in Portugal and coordinates the project team to control the identified risks.
• Supervises the environmental monitoring activities during the construction of the plant in Portugal and supervises the construction party and the supervisory unit to fulfil the EHS related duties in the contract.
• Ensures the equipment move in, ESO checking, power system plant acceptance, etc. to ensure smooth delivery and operation.
• Establishes accident and incident management system and emergency response process and plan, organizing investigation and handling of accident and incident, and continuous improvement of EHS.
• Identifies EHS laws and regulations during the construction period and operation of the Portuguese plant, builds the plant EHS management system, and organizes continuous improvement.
