Qualificações

Direct Material Buyer (m/f/d)

Join the Purchasing team at our Tondela plant in Portugal and take an active role in supplier management, sourcing, negotiations, and purchasing activities within the automotive industry.

As a Direct Material Buyer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for managing direct material suppliers and supporting sourcing and purchasing activities, working closely with Global Commodity Management and cross-functional teams. This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, sourcing, and business performance.

Your Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop relationships with direct material suppliers, acting as a key contact for purchasing and supplier-related topics.
• Lead and support commercial negotiations with local suppliers, particularly in the context of engineering changes, volume changes, program extensions, and other commercial adjustments.
• Support sourcing activities, including RFQs, quotation analysis, supplier selection, price negotiations, and allocation of business.
• Work closely with Global Commodity Management to support sourcing strategies and supplier activities.
• Coordinate local purchasing activities and support supplier changes, manufacturing transfers, and new project launches.
• Evaluate and follow up Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) with suppliers, ensuring alignment with timing, cost, and EBIT targets.
• Work closely with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project launches and supplier performance.
• Support supplier‑related quality, logistics, delivery, and commercial issues, escalating critical topics when required.
• Ensure accurate purchasing and pricing data in SAP and maintain relevant purchasing tools and documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to optimize purchasing processes and ways of working.
• Actively participate in the Purchasing network and collaborate with international stakeholders.

Your Profile:

• University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a similar role, preferably in the automotive or industrial sector.
• Proven experience in supplier management, sourcing, and commercial negotiations.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Good understanding of purchasing processes and industrial environments.
• Knowledge of automotive industry processes and standards, particularly APQP and PPAP, is a plus.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proactive, structured, and results‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong team player, comfortable working in a dynamic and international environment.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Fluent in English (minimum C1 level).
• Located in the Central Portugal region.
