Abroad Work is seeking a Database Administrator to ensure performance, integrity and security of our databases in Funchal, Madeira. The role involves design, maintenance and optimization, plus backups and monitoring, working with the IT team to keep systems reliable.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Computer Science and proven DBA experience; knowledge of MySQL or Oracle, SQL and Java is valued. Accommodation is provided as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
• Knowledge of database management systems (e.g. MySQL, Oracle).
• Familiarity with SQL language and programming languages (e.g. Java).
• Experience with data backup, recovery and security protocols.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of our company's databases. You will work closely with the IT team to ensure that our databases are properly configured, maintained and optimized. Your role will also involve troubleshooting issues, monitoring database activity and performing regular backups to ensure data reliability. You should have a strong understanding of database management systems and be able to work independently. This is a full-time position based in Funchal, with accommodation provided.
