Job summary

Decskill is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the design of data-driven solutions and manage cross-functional teams delivering them within projects. You will choose or build the team, ensure timely skill transfer, and oversee delivery, monitoring and governance using MLOps practices.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data science, strong scripting in Python/Pyspark/Spark-mllib, and hands-on experience with analytics tools and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in an analytical field (CS/Engineering/Math/Statistics/OR).
• 5+ years scripting in Python, Pyspark or Spark-mllib.
• Experience with NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Dplyr, Ggplot2.
• 5+ years as data scientist or related analytics role.
• Professional experience with Java, Scala or Spark.
• Experience leading teams in a project environment.

About the project:

As a senior data scientist, you will be responsible for leading the design of solutions and managing the teams that develop them as part of a project. You will also be responsible for selecting a team with the right skill set or, alternatively, ensuring that the team acquires the necessary skills in a timely manner. You must also ensure the proper delivery, monitoring and governance of solutions using MLOps.

Responsibilities:

• Leverage data and domain knowledge to solve business problems and create quantifiable value;
• Work cross-functionally to define problem statements, collect data, create analytical models and design appropriate solutions;
• Build and maintain (or lead the development of) optimization models based on data, experiments, predictive algorithms and capacity constraint models;
• Lead teams to deliver models using MLOps best practices;
• Communicate final recommendations and support decision making.

Requirements:

• A degree in an analytical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Management Science);
• More than 5 years of scripting with one of these languages (e.g. Python, Pyspark, Spark-mllib);
• Experience with packages such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Dplyr, Ggplot2;
• More than 5 years' experience in projects as a data scientist or in a role closely related to data (e.g. analysis);
• Professional experience with Java, Scala or Spark;
• Experience of working with and leading teams in a project environment;

Nice to have:

• 1+ years of SQL experience;
• Experience in distribution-based architectures, such as Cloudera, AWS, Microsoft Azure Cloud and GCP (Google Cloud Platform), among others;
• Knowledge of data governance.
