Job summary

MSD in Lisbon, Portugal, is seeking a Data Scientist with a growth mindset to translate data and AI into measurable business value. You will work cross-functionally, guide stakeholders, and champion innovation and responsible AI.

The role requires expertise in data science, GenAI, and cloud platforms, with strong Python/R skills, and fluency in Portuguese and English. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, ML, AI, BI or related fields.
• Hands-on exposed to end-to-end analytics lifecycle: exploration, prep, feature engineering, model development, deployment, monitoring and value measurement.
• Experience with Generative AI technologies, LLMs, AI copilots, prompt engineering, RAG, or similar capabilities.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or R; SQL and modern data science libraries.
• Experience translating business opportunities into analytical and AI solutions while managing stakeholder expectations.
• Consulting, communication and change management skills with ability to influence across levels.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to identify, prioritize, and deliver data science, segmentation and AI use cases that generate measurable business value.

• Collaborate with data engineers, data teams, commercial functions, and business leaders to ensure solutions are sustainable, scalable, and aligned with strategic priorities.
• Communicate analytical findings and AI opportunities clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, enabling informed decision-making.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, or related fields.
• Hands-on experience across the end-to-end analytics lifecycle, including data exploration, preparation, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and value measurement.
• Experience with Generative AI technologies, large language models (LLMs), AI copilots, AI agents, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or similar emerging AI capabilities.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or R, with experience in SQL and modern data science frameworks and libraries.
• Experience translating business opportunities into analytical and AI solutions while managing stakeholder expectations and driving adoption.
• Consulting, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
• Experience identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing innovation opportunities using data automation and AI technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud analytics environments and AI platforms (Azure, Databricks, AWS, GCP, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams and lead initiatives that drive organizational change and capability building.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
