Job summary

act digital EMEA - Alter Solutions seeks an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join an international project focused on building, operating, and modernising cloud-native data platforms. The role combines database administration with hands-on DevOps, cloud infrastructure, automation, and real-time data processing.

The ideal candidate will design and deploy scalable data platforms, manage production databases, and work with streaming tech (Kafka, Flink) while advancing CI/CD and GitOps

Qualifications

• Production database experience (PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar).
• Strong SQL knowledge, performance tuning, replication, backup and recovery.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join an international project focused on building, operating, and modernising cloud-native data platforms.

The ideal candidate will combine strong database administration expertise with hands‑on experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, automation, and real‑time data processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and highly available data platforms.
• Manage production databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Valkey, ensuring performance, replication, backup, and recovery.
• Work with real‑time data streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, and CDC solutions.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Python, and Bash.
• Deploy and manage data services on Kubernetes and cloud environments, preferably Azure.
• Implement CI/CD and GitOps practices using GitLab CI/CD and Argo CD.
• Monitor and optimise platform performance, availability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and implement long‑term improvements.
• Contribute to database migrations, platform modernisation, and infrastructure automation.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing production databases, preferably PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database performance tuning, replication, backup, and recovery.
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka, Flink, or similar data streaming technologies.
• Solid experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
