Job summary

ISS is seeking an autonomous Data & AI Engineer to own the data and ML backbone of our digital platform. You will manage the PostgreSQL database, build data pipelines and ensure ML workflows are reliable and scalable.

You will collaborate with the Business Development Manager and executive team to align data strategies with sustainability-driven growth, evaluating new AI models and open-source tools to accelerate product decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree minimum in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, Bioinformatics or related).
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including ML/AI.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Strong PostgreSQL and relational DB design experience.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Good understanding of ML and MLOps.
• Familiarity with MLflow, Airflow and Git.
• Experience with APIs and external datasets.
• Good software engineering practices and ability to write maintainable code.
• Ability to own technical systems and work independently.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Database Ownership: own and evolve PostgreSQL DB, design schema, enforce data integrity and maintenance.
• Data Pipelines: design, build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, transforming and enriching data.
• Data & ML Workflows: develop Python-based data and ML workflows, including orchestration and lifecycle management.
• ML Infrastructure: own ML infrastructure and algorithms, ensure reliability and integration with the platform.
• Tooling: work with MLflow, Airflow and other data/ML tools.
• Platform Integration: integrate data/ML features with the wider app via APIs.
• AI Innovation: evaluate new AI models, open-source frameworks and tech.
• Engineering Best Practices: ensure data quality, testing, versioning and monitoring.
