Wire IT, based in Portugal, seeks a Senior COBOL Developer to join our hybrid team in Porto or Lisbon. You will maintain and evolve legacy systems, ensuring adherence to coding standards and production constraints while collaborating with international clients.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in COBOL, with CICS, DB2, and JCL experience, plus documentation skills and autonomous working style. English at B2 is required; knowledge of French is a plus.

Qualificações

• Degree in Computer Engineering, IT, or a similar field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in similar roles.
• Strong professional experience with COBOL.
• Solid experience with CICS, DB2, and JCL.
• Ability to understand, analyse, and maintain existing code.
• Experience creating technical documentation, user guides, and API documentation.
• Ability to consistently follow established coding standards, guidelines, and development best practices.
• Commitment to producing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code.
• Ability to ensure compliance with production constraints, including costs, deadlines, and quality standards.
• Fluency in English, at least B2 level; French a plus.

Position:Senior COBOL Developer

Location: Porto or Lisbon (Hybrid).

Required skills:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar field;
• At least 5 years of professional experience in similar roles;
• Strong professional experience with COBOL;
• Solid experience with CICS, DB2, and JCL;
• Ability to understand, analyse, and maintain existing code;
• Experience creating technical documentation, user guides, and API documentation;
• Ability to consistently follow established coding standards, guidelines, and development best practices;
• Commitment to producing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code;
• Ability to ensure compliance with production constraints, including costs, deadlines, and quality standards;
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to different technical and functional tasks;
• Proactive approach and ability to work autonomously;
• Strong resilience, creativity, communication, and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to make commitments and deliver accordingly;
• Fluency in English, at least B2 level;
• Knowledge of French is a plus;
• Previous experience working in an international environment is a plus.
