Job summary

Komodo Consulting, a technology and strategy firm operating in Portugal and Poland, seeks a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS/Azure/GCP. The role focuses on IaC, cloud networking, security, and cost optimisation in a hybrid setting with two days per week in the office.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in cloud engineering, hands-on with major providers, and strong scripting skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of cloud engineering experience
• Hands-on with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Proficient with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep)
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking and security fundamentals
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE)
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Solid Linux/Windows server administration
• Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana) and CI/CD
• English at least B2 level
• Cloud certifications are a plus in enterprise environments

Responsibilities

The Project

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to work on a technology project.

You will have the following responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure;
• Provision and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code;
• Plan and execute migrations of applications and workloads to the cloud;
• Configure and manage cloud networking, including VPCs/VNets, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing;
• Implement identity and access management, security controls, and compliance best practices;
• Monitor performance, availability, and costs, and propose optimisation measures;
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions;
• Support the deployment and operation of containerised and serverless workloads;
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions;
• Collaborate with architecture, security, DevOps, and development teams, and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.

You need to have the following skills/experience:

• Solid experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar infrastructure role (3+ years);
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or equivalents;
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking and security fundamentals;
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (e.g. EKS, AKS, GKE) or equivalent platforms;
• Scripting experience, preferably in Bash, Python, or PowerShell;
• Solid understanding of Linux and/or Windows server administration;
• Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalents;
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Git;
• English B2 or higher;
• Cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer) and experience in enterprise environments are a plus.

Location

Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra or Braga (Hybrid - 2 days per week at the office).
