Job summary

Amgen Capability Center Portugal in Lisbon seeks a Clinical Systems Business Analyst to support CTMME and Veeva ClinOps, bridging business needs with technical delivery. You will gather requirements, write user stories, and craft test plans, collaborating with developers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to ensure aligned, high-quality solutions.

You will help source data, ensure regulatory alignment, and validate implementation while contributing to continuous improvement and effective

Qualifications

• Must hold a Doctorate or Master’s degree with 4–6 years of IT/Computer Science experience, or a Bachelor’s with 6–8 years experience, or a Diploma with 10–12 years experience.
• Proven experience with SAFe framework and Agile software development.
• Experience with Veeva ClinOps suite of applications and regulatory-aware data handling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with System Architects and Product Managers to manage business analysis activities.
• Lead activities to capture the voice of the customer and define business processes and product needs.
• Develop business cases to request funds for digital innovation opportunities, including scope, timeline, and resources.
• Collaborate with Product Management and partners to analyze impact of Veeva version upgrades and refine the Product backlog.
• Ensure non-functional requirements are included and prioritized in product and release backlogs.
• Express features clearly in user stories so the team understands how they fit the backlog.

Clinical Systems Business Analyst LIVE WHAT YOU WILL DO

This lead role will be part of Clinical Trial Management, Monitoring, and Engagement (CTMME) product team, supporting Veeva ClinOps suite of applications (Veeva CTMS etc). This role combines domain expertise and analytical skills to gather, refine, and document business requirements, including user stories, business process maps, and test plans. Collaborating closely with developers, Product Managers, and business stakeholders, the analyst ensures technical requirements are well-defined, enabling accurate planning, estimation, and delivery of high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities also include sourcing and integrating data, ensuring its accuracy and alignment with regulatory needs, and developing test cases to validate system implementation. In addition to requirements analysis, this role emphasizes understanding how businesses create, consume, and make decisions using data in the context of their processes. With a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration, this role ensures all the business requirements are captured and appropriately reflected in the subsequent documentation (technical/functional requirements, test cases etc), and in the final delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with System Architects and Product Managers to manage business analysis activities
• Work as a technical SME, supporting Veeva ClinOps suite of applications
• Lead activities to capture the voice of the customer to define business processes and product needs
• Developing business cases to communicate and request funds for digital innovation opportunities, including the scope, timeline, and resources vital to achieving successful outcomes.
• Collaborate with Product Management, vendor, and business partners to analyze and document impact of Veeva version upgrade releases and refine the Product backlog
• Ensure non-functional requirements are included and prioritized in the Product and Release Backlogs
• Clearly express features in User Stories/requirements so all team members and stakeholders understand how they fit into the product backlog
• Partnering with business counterparts, Technical Product Owner and other members of the product team to deliver solutions
• Stay focused on software development to ensure it meets requirements, providing proactive feedback to stakeholders
• Partnering with Partner Services, Architecture, CDT and other Amgen IT teams on continual systems delivery improvements
• Develop and execute effective product demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, processes, and changes

WIN WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU Basic Qualifications and Experience:

• Doctorate Degree OR Master’s degree with 4 - 6 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field OR Bachelor’s degree with 6 - 8 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field OR Diploma with 10 - 12 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field

Must-Have Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges in drug discovery with technology
• Experience with SAFe Framework and Agile software development methodologies
• Experience with Veeva ClinOps suite of applications
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
• Experience in writing requirements for development of modern web application
• Has experience with writing user requirements and acceptance criteria in agile project management systems such as JIRA
• Understanding of scientific software systems strategy, governance, and infrastructure
• Experience with Veeva Risk based validation tool
• Technical thought leadership
• Able to communicate technical or complex subject matters in business terms
