Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto Francisco Gentil (IPO Porto) calls for a technician on an unfixed-term contract to work at the Biobank of the Department of Pathology and IPO Porto Research Center. The role requires a Master’s degree and experience in oncology research, including handling human biological samples and clinical data curation.

Starting 1 December 2026, the contract runs until 31 December 2029, with a monthly gross remuneration of €1,499.15.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry/Biology or related fields.
• Documented oncology research experience.
• At least one first-author publication in a peer‑reviewed journal.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams with clinical involvement.
• Experience handling and storing human biological samples in a Biobank.
• Experience collecting and managing clinical data from medical records; database construction.
• Experience using RedCap; inventory and stock management.
• Knowledge of QA/QC and SOPs; laboratory protocols standardization.
• Hands-on nucleic acid extraction and quantification; RT‑PCR/qPCR.
• DNA/RNA/protein analysis; high-throughput molecular platforms.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.

Responsabilidades

• Receive and process human biological specimens for biobanking.
• Perform accessioning, labeling, cataloguing, and long-term storage with traceability.
• Coordinate shipment and biosafety compliant material transfers.
• Maintain biobank databases and document patient/matient data curation.
• Manage inventory of consumables and reagents; support SOP development.
• Collaborate on translational research projects with internal and external partners.
• Conduct molecular biology procedures: nucleic acid extraction, quantification, PCR assays.
