A multinational consultant in Portugal is seeking an experienced data engineer to design and implement data pipelines and optimize cloud services using Azure. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in data engineering, strong proficiency in Python, and familiarity with Apache Spark. Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing robust data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, integration, and storage;
• Developing scalable data processing workflows using Apache Spark, Python, and Azure Databricks;
• Managing and optimizing Azure cloud services such as Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, and DevOps pipelines;
• Ensuring best practices in software engineering, including object-oriented design, test-driven development, and CI/CD;
• Leading the creation of dimensional data models and supporting data warehousing initiatives;
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand data flows, and provide accessible, high-quality data solutions;
• Establishing a single source of truth by integrating and organizing diverse data sources;
• Supporting reporting needs through dashboards, KPIs, and data visualizations aligned with business goals;
• Implementing practices to support data governance, data quality monitoring, and efficient data management.

Qualifications

• +5 years of hands-on experience in software/data engineering roles, with a strong focus on data pipeline development;
• Advanced proficiency in Python and PySpark, with the ability to write well-tested and maintainable code;
• Deep understanding of Apache Spark internals and performance optimization;
• Strong experience in applying software engineering best practices, including version control with Git, use of IDEs, and CI/CD pipelines;
• Proven experience with Azure data ecosystem, including Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Databricks, and DevOps;
• Solid background in dimensional data modeling and building data warehouses;
• Practical experience with scheduling tools such as Data Factory or Apache Airflow;
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and monitoring strategies;
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex data requirements into scalable solutions;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills;
• Fluency in English, spoken and written (mandatory).
