Backend Software Engineer / Developer (Python Golang) Lisbon / WFH to €110,000

Are you a backend technologist looking for a new opportunity?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Backend Software Engineer role at a growing FinTech that is developing a complete retail banking platform that is capable of being configured to suit the needs of any bank.

As a Backend Software Engineer you will specialise in Infrastructure engineering, you'll play a key role in deploying and maintaining cutting edge software, building the tools, automation and integrations that enable reliable operation across customer environments. You'll work across deployment automation, data and streaming platforms and third party infrastructure, helping make complex infrastructure intuitive and reliable for engineers and customer SRE teams.

You’ll support the wider engineering team in building scalable, highly available applications, while designing and developing tools that automate deployment and operational processes wherever possible. A key focus will be observability and orchestration, giving customers the tooling they need to monitor, manage and operate their deployments effectively.

You’ll also contribute to disaster recovery, backup and redundancy strategies, helping ensure services remain resilient and recoverable at scale. Alongside new development, you’ll help improve the quality and maintainability of the codebase by introducing better engineering tools, processes and automation.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving developer and customer experience and building reliable systems that operate at scale.

Location:

You’ll be based in the Lisbon office, with flexibility to work from home once a week.

About you:

• You have experience developing production ready infrastructure management tooling with either Python or Golang
• Familiarity with at least one of the following: Observability Tools (e.g. Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana), Databases (e.g. Postgres, DuckDB), Event Streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka), Container Orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• You have experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, GitHub Actions)
• You have AWS (or other cloud provider) experience
• You have a strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals such as OOP, Data Structures, Design Patterns
• You are degree educated, having achieved a STEM BSc from a top tier university
• You have fluent English language skills
