Loop Future is hiring a Junior AI Engineer in Coimbra, Portugal. The role involves building features for LoopOS Flux, our multi-tenant ERP, using Ruby on Rails 8. You will work with engineers, product, and customers to take ideas from concept to production.

You’ll join a team that values curiosity about AI, learning quickly, and collaborating with clients to ship real products. The position is hybrid with 1x/week in-office.

Qualificações

• Background in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Up to 2 years of experience; internships and projects count.
• Interest in AI and learning new tools quickly.
• Strong OOP and web development fundamentals.

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior AI Engineer to join our team.

We're building LoopOS Flux, the next generation of our ERP platform designed for the circular economy. Built with Ruby on Rails 8, Flux is a modern, multi-tenant product where AI is not just a feature: it's part of how we design, develop, and ship software every day.

This is an ideal opportunity for a curious, AI-driven junior engineer who loves building things. You'll join one of the first product teams working directly with our first live client, owning features from idea to production while collaborating closely with engineers, product, and customers.

Responsabilities:

• Build and ship full-stack product features using Ruby on Rails.
• Collaborate with clients and teammates to understand real user problems.
• Transform ideas into technical solutions with support from senior engineers.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, documentation, and testing.
• Take ownership of your features from discovery through production.
• Continuously improve the product through feedback and iteration.

Must-have

• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Up to 2 years of professional experience - no professional experience required. Internships, academic work, and personal projects all count!
• Passion for software development and building real products.
• Curiosity about AI and enthusiasm for using AI-powered development tools.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and web development fundamentals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn quickly.
• Comfortable communicating in Portuguese and English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, or Docker.
• Personal projects, hackathons, GitHub portfolio, or products you've shipped.
• Experience experimenting with AI agents or LLM APIs.
