ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Lead Application Architect to support complex digital solutions in the technology consulting sector, with a strong focus on European Union project environments. This role combines architecture definition, technical analysis and implementation support, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with quality requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Define application architecture and prepare implementation-ready technical specifications for development teams.
- Produce technical analysis and design artefacts, including data models, API specifications and architecture documentation.
- Ensure that solution designs comply with architecture principles, technical standards, application security and quality requirements.
- Guide development teams during implementation and support the resolution of complex technical challenges.
- Review technical designs and contribute to continuous improvement across software engineering practices.
- Coordinate technical activities with architects, analysts and project stakeholders.
- Support delivery in a European Union project context, ensuring alignment with applicable requirements and constraints.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- More than 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, application architecture or similar technical roles.
- Strong experience defining functional and technical architecture for enterprise applications.
- Ability to translate business and technical needs into clear, actionable architecture and implementation guidance.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- European Union citizenship, due to project eligibility requirements.
- Collaborative, responsible and solution-oriented working style, with the ability to support teams and engage with multiple stakeholders.
- Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon, with on-site presence required two days per week.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Application architecture and microservices architecture.
- Java and Spring Boot.
- REST APIs, OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
- Kubernetes, Docker and cloud-native architectures.
- Technical analysis, data modelling and architecture documentation.
- Software development best practices.
- Application security principles.
NICE TO HAVE
- MongoDB and data modelling.
- Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, CQRS and Event Sourcing.
- IAM, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and secure authorization patterns.
- CI/CD, DevOps practices and delivery automation.
- Knowledge of European data protection and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and EUDPR.
