Elevare Education in Lisboa is seeking an experienced Academic Manager to lead the development and delivery of the school's academic programmes, and to help launch and grow the institution.

You will design curricula, manage staff, oversee accreditation and regulatory processes in Portugal, and build governance structures with the Founders.

This startup environment requires entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership and the ability to operate across academic, operational and institutional areas.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in Education, Educational Sciences, Pedagogy, Business Education or another relevant discipline.
• Significant experience in academic management or educational leadership.
• Previous experience as an Academic Manager, Academic Director, Director of Studies, Head of Studies, Programme Manager, Academic Coordinator or in a comparable leadership role.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the development, implementation and delivery of the school's academic programmes.
• Design and review curricula, syllabi, learning outcomes, assessment methods and teaching materials.
• Establish and maintain academic policies, procedures, quality standards and performance indicators.
• Recruit, onboard, coordinate, support and develop lecturers and academic staff.
• Manage teaching allocations, academic calendars and timetables.
• Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations, evaluations and continuous improvement processes.
• Monitor student attendance, participation, academic performance and progression, coordinating interventions and academic support where required.
• Oversee academic matters including assessment, progression, academic misconduct, appeals and other student academic cases.
• Support the design, development and launch of new programmes and qualifications.
• Play an active role in accreditation, recognition, authorisation and regulatory processes in Portugal.
• Prepare documentation and coordinate requirements for audits, inspections, institutional reviews and quality-assurance processes.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable Portuguese educational, regulatory and quality requirements.
• Support the establishment and development of academic governance structures and institutional policies.
• Liaise with relevant authorities, accreditation and awarding bodies, universities and other institutional partners.
• Identify and develop collaborations with schools, universities, business schools, training organisations and other educational institutions.
• Produce academic, quality and operational reports and provide relevant data and recommendations to the Founders.
• Contribute to student recruitment, institutional development and the growth of the school's academic portfolio.
• Support wider school operations during the establishment and growth of Elevare Education.

Formação académica

About the Role

Elevare Education is a new and ambitious education institution being established in Lisboa, with a strong focus on high-quality, internationally oriented business education.

As we build the school from the ground up, we are looking for an experienced Academic Manager who will play a key role not only in academic delivery, but also in the development, launch and growth of the institution itself.

This is not a traditional Academic Manager position within an already established school. We are looking for someone entrepreneurial, hands-on and adaptable who is comfortable working in a start-up environment, establishing systems and processes, solving problems and taking responsibility across different areas when required.

Working closely with the Founders, the Academic Manager will take a leading role in building and managing the academic, operational and institutional foundations of Elevare Education in Portugal.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines academic expertise with an entrepreneurial and operational mindset.

The right person will understand that working within a newly established institution requires flexibility, initiative and ownership. Priorities will evolve as the school develops, and the Academic Manager will be expected to contribute across academic, regulatory, operational and institutional matters.

You should be comfortable creating structures where none yet exist, taking ownership of projects, finding solutions independently and helping transform Elevare Education's vision into a fully functioning and successful education institution.

• Master's degree in Education, Educational Sciences, Pedagogy, Business Education or another relevant discipline.
• Significant experience in academic management or educational leadership.
• Previous experience as an Academic Manager, Academic Director, Director of Studies, Head of Studies, Programme Manager, Academic Coordinator or in a comparable leadership role.
• Strong experience in curriculum development, assessment and academic quality assurance.
• Experience managing, supporting and developing teaching teams.
• Strong understanding of the Portuguese education and training environment.
• Experience with regulatory, accreditation, certification, recognition or quality-assurance processes in Portugal.
• Strong organisational and project-management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional fluency in Portuguese and English (C1-C2).

Highly Desirable

• Doctorate/PhD in Education or a related discipline.
• Experience within higher education, business education, professional training or international education.
• Experience establishing or launching a school, educational institution, campus or new academic operation.
• Experience developing academic programmes from concept through approval and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese regulatory, certification, accreditation and quality frameworks.
• Experience establishing institutional policies, academic governance and quality-assurance systems.
• Experience developing academic and institutional partnerships.
