Job summary

iPS Powerful People (B Corp™) is seeking an experienced 2nd Engineer for a 5-week rotation aboard our Split Hopper Barge. You will troubleshoot critical machinery, supervise watchkeeping, and support the Chief Engineer to keep the vessel running safely.

You will inspect safety equipment, mentor junior crew, and pursue opportunities to advance toward a Chief Engineer role, while maintaining high environmental and operational standards at sea.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Competency (CoC) - STCW III/2 2nd Engineer & High Voltage.
• STCW VI/1 Basic Safety Training (including Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities).
• STCW VI/2 Proficiency in Survival Craft and STCW VI/3 Advanced Firefighting.
• Medical certifications including STCW A-VI/4.1 Medical First Aid and STCW I/9 Medical Seafarer MLC.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily watchkeeping duties and keep our vessel running smoothly at sea.
• Assist the Chief Engineer with scheduled maintenance and heavy overhaul tasks.
• Run diagnostics on auxiliary engines, pumps, and purifier systems.
• Inspect safety equipment and ensure compliance with strict environmental standards.
• Nurture a strong onboard team spirit while mentoring junior crew members.
