Job summary

Sii Poland is seeking an Infrastructure Migration Engineer in Warsaw to lead end-to-end VM migrations from legacy VMware environments to VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 workload domains. You will validate readiness, coordinate waves, and work with NSX‑T teams to ensure network and security readiness.

The role requires deep VMware experience, HCX familiarity, and strong problem-solving skills to keep applications available during migrations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in VMware platform environments, with hands-on expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
• Proven experience migrating production VMs between VMware environments, ideally multi-cluster/multi-site.
• Strong understanding of vMotion, Storage vMotion, DRS, HA, clusters, datastores, VM hardware versions, and VMkernel networking.
• Ability to interpret vCenter/ESXi events, tasks, alarms, logs to diagnose migration issues quickly.
• Good understanding of storage impacts during migration, including snapshots, CBT, and backup interactions.
• Essential VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 skills, including SDDC Manager and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with HCX or VCF workload mobility tooling and HCX connectors.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end migration of VMs from legacy VMware ESXi/vSphere to VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 workload domains.
• Execute migrations using HCX vMotion as the primary method for workloads.
• Validate source and destination readiness before migration, including vCenter, ESXi, storage, network, and dependencies.
• Identify migration blockers such as unsupported VM configurations, active snapshots, and network restrictions.
• Group workloads into migration waves based on application dependencies and maintenance windows.
• Support pre-, during, and post-migration validation, including power-on checks and network reachability.
• Collaborate with NSX‑T teams to validate segments, Edge connectivity, NAT, and extension boundaries.
• Troubleshoot migration issues across vCenter, ESXi, HCX, NSX‑T, vMotion, storage, and network layers.
• Produce and maintain migration documentation, trackers, wave status, and post-migration lessons learned.
