Job summary

tem is hiring a Tech Lead for our new Payments squad within Saldo, our Billing and Payments Service. You’ll own the squad’s delivery, write design docs, review code, and set the technical direction for payments as we scale.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll drive architecture, balance speed and quality, coach engineers, and reduce cost-to-process while delivering reliable payments for a high-growth fintech. Remote-first with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Track record as a tech lead owning squad delivery and standards.
• Experience writing design docs, reviewing PRs/ADRs, solving problems hands-on.
• Balance hands-on work with coaching junior engineers.
• Experience designing team ways of working from scratch.
• Experience owning cross-team sequencing and dependencies.
• Comfort setting technical direction amid ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own the squad's delivery and the standards it works to.
• Write specs and design docs, review PRs/ADRs, and solve problems directly through code.
• Set payments architecture direction and translate ambiguity into strategy.
• Cut cost-to-process by improving payment accuracy and processing efficiency.
• Define the squad's operating model and set the pace.
• Own sequencing and dependencies; ensure throughput improvements are visible.
• Coach junior engineers and define what good looks like with the team.
• Flag promotions and hiring gaps in collaboration with management.
